About Me

I’m a cultural anthropologist who has worked extensively with African-descendant populations in Latin America and the Caribbean. I use my expertise to improve policy and strengthen community and activist initiatives that support Black women. I love opportunities that allow me to stretch and creatively apply my skillset.

I wear many hats: academic, teacher, advocate, co-conspirator, activist, guest lecturer, researcher, guide, and student. I firmly believe in learning by doing, and I embrace opportunities to learn alongside the people I am working with. I believe that dedicating time to understanding social and political contexts and the people who inhabit them results in the best solutions to complex problems. I also believe that dancing when stuck on a problem yields the best eureka moments. Casino salsa, preferably.
