I view research and teaching as two sides of the same coin, and I thoroughly enjoy sharing my knowledge with others. As an instructor, I rely on my strong communication skills, my perceptive nature, and my willingness to get creative and learn alongside those I teach. I am passionate about understanding my audience; this is the first step towards successfully interpreting my message in a way that resonates with them. I challenge myself to cross the borders of culture, language, and history in creative, flexible ways to offer the best experience and provide key knowledge to those interested in learning.
Classroom Endeavors.
As a professor or guest lecturer with more than five years of experience, I have had the opportunity to teach at universities and colleges in Canada and the U.S. I enjoy offering courses, workshops, and talks about race, racism, gender, women’s rights, and Black feminisms in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Teaching on the ground.
My expertise as a researcher and instructor make me a well-versed cultural guide. Outside of the traditional classroom setting, I have designed and carried out workshops and lessons for social activists, and worked as a language and cultural interpreter for students from the U.S. and U.K.
Professional settings.
I apply my skills as a teacher and lecturer in spaces beyond academia to share my knowledge with public audiences. As of late, I enjoy presenting for government officials and orienting future foreign diplomats in the U.S. State Department.
